When the American company, Liz Claiborne made the decision to open a store to head up its prestigious retail operations in Europe, it awarded the development and fitting contract to Tienda. Up until 2000, the company's only European outlets were concessions in the larger retail stores, and the London store was to be its flagship. The selected site was Regent Street; the building, a Grade 1 listed Crown Property in a conservation area. No small undertaking, but second nature to Tienda.
Despite the problems which inevitably accompany development in any listed building, the project was finished on time, and the store opened on schedule. The store has been so successful that Liz Claiborne Europe Limited and Tienda are at present working on an international showroom in London, and are soon to begin the spread of stores out of the West End to an out of town retail park. This is a prestigious contract; one which is on-going, and which Tienda is fulfilling very successfully. 'Shopfitting' is too narrow a word for what Tienda can offer. A better definition is the company strap-line, 'constructing solutions'.

Liz Claiborne had already commissioned award winning American designers, MOVK, to draft a new US concept for its shops, and Tienda's remit was to adapt it and create a store based around it, but with its own distinct European flavour.
