Elida Faberge, Jump and Tienda constitute the 'Barber Shop Trio' – not as tuneful as a traditional quartet, but an effective team nevertheless! The partnership came into being when Elida Faberge wanted to create men's hairdressers with a barber shop image, on the back of their phenomenally successful range of Lynx toiletries.
Turning design into product is no small undertaking, and the barber shop 'cutting station' was no exception. An 'arty' drawing looks good, but the practicality is that it has to work!Tienda's Technical Assembly Shop, under the guidance of Mark Green, turned the design of the station, affectionately known as the 'pod', into a production specification, and it was then constructed in Tienda's workshop. |
Tienda was observed working on various sites in London, and had come to the notice of Elida Faberge. They were subsequently briefed and were invited to put forward proposals of how they could develop and roll out this concept. The outcome was that Tienda was asked to join forces with Jump, a company which is currently making a big mark in the design world, and which had also pitched for the design concept. Months of intense planning between the two companies followed, and the desired barber shop format was formulated. The execution of the format was down to Tienda.
